PARTNERING WITH CHAMBERS OF TRADE IN SHROPSHIRE
BRINGING SUCCESS TO YOUR TOWN
Just Shropshire have recently worked in conjunction with Oakengates Chamber of Trade who recognised the need to raise the profile of the town to assist the traders in the town who like us all have felt the impact of the credit crunch.
During the consultation stage we listened to the traders and the local community to see how we could help improve trade and at the same time generate goodwill. On the 10th April 2010 a new web site was launched for the town called Visit Oakengates which profiles the traders within the town, promotes their offers helping them to reduce advertising spend and at the same time integrated a community section to the site for topical information and events in the area.
To coincide with the launch Oakengates held a fun day and farmers market, with live entertainment throughout the day which was blessed with glorious sunshine and the busiest day for the town for many years. Traders saw a noticeable difference in trade with many of the customers taking advantage of the discounts available on the day.
Just Shropshire and committee members from Oakengates Chamber of Trade worked together in promoting the day and the positive feed back from traders, community and the local council has help put Oakengates back on the map. The success of the day has seen more traders join the scheme and approval has been given for a farmers market and entertainment to become a monthly event.
